Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
This policy explains what Insurance Guide NY collects when you use this site, how we use it, and the choices you have. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than legal boilerplate. If anything here is unclear, ask us through the coverage form.
What we collect
Information you give us. When you fill out the coverage form, we collect the information you enter: your name, email address, ZIP code, the situation you select, any optional notes you add, and your consent to be contacted. We also record which page you submitted the form from. You choose what to share. If you do not fill out the form, we do not collect any of this.
Basic analytics. We use Plausible, a privacy-friendly analytics tool, to understand which pages people find useful. Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect personal information, and does not track you across other websites. It counts page views and a few actions, like whether a form was submitted or an outbound link was clicked, without tying any of it to you personally. When we record that a form was submitted, we deliberately exclude your name, email, ZIP, and notes from that analytics event. You can read how Plausible handles data on its own data policy page.
Campaign tags. If you arrive through a link that carries campaign tags in the web address, we may record those tags along with your form submission so we can understand which of our efforts brought you here. These tags describe the link, not you.
How we use it
We use the information you submit to respond to your inquiry and to follow up with information relevant to your property and ZIP code. We use the analytics to see which guides are working and to improve the site. We do not use your information to build advertising profiles.
Who we share it with
When you ask us for help, we may share the information you submitted with a licensed New York insurance professional or partner agency so they can follow up about your question. That is the point of the form, and your consent covers it. We do not sell your information to anyone, and we do not share it for anyone else's advertising.
We rely on a small number of service providers to run this site: a hosting provider that serves the pages, a database provider that stores form submissions, and the analytics tool described above. These providers process data only to provide their service to us. We do not sell your information, and this sharing with providers is not a sale.
How long we keep it
We keep form submissions for as long as needed to respond to your inquiry and to keep a reasonable record of it. If you want us to delete your information, ask us and we will, unless we are required to keep it for a legitimate reason.
Your choices
You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Send the request through the coverage form and tell us what you would like. Because our privacy-friendly analytics do not identify you, there is no personal analytics record to access or delete.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the information you submit. No method of transmitting or storing data is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to keep your information safe.
Children
This site is meant for adult homeowners and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Links to other sites
We link to government and industry sources so you can verify what we publish. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and this policy does not cover them.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Significant changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
